Fun Friday Photos: Geoff Livingston & His Velvet Elvis at SearchCamp Philly

By Li Evans

Back in September we held SearchCamp Philly in conjunction with PodCamp Philly and boy was it a heck of a lot of fun!  The audience was great, the speakers were awesome and the topics were really just right on target with online marketing and what webmasters and business owners could do with their sites.

The really nice thing about SearchCamp was that we had three people from Virginia and one from Texas come in and speak and help launch SearchCamp.  Giovanni Gallucci from Viewzi, SMG's own Simon Heseltine, Debbie Weil who's the author of the Corporate Blogging Book and last but by certainly no means least Geoff Livingston of Livingston Communications and the author of the book, Now is Gone.

Geoff's got this sticker on his lap top, it's very interesting, quite unique.  He calls it the "Velvet Elvis".  I even saw Maggie Fox commenting about it on Twitter the other day, and I knew then what my Friday Fun picture was going to be - Geoff and his Velvet Elvis at SearchCamp Philly.

Get Your Website or Blog Reviewed for Just $21!

By Li Evans

SearchCamp Philly LogoAre you going to be in the Philadelphia area around September 6&7th, 2008?  Well if you are, you can't miss this heck of a bargain!

SearchCamp Philly built into its community-made agenda "site clinics" and "blog reviews" for attendees of the PodCamp Philly / SearchCamp Philly event.  This is your chance to get your website (Small Business, B2B or Entrepreneur website) or your blog looked at by some of the areas top online marketers and get some advice on how to improve it.

We have 4 types of reviews

  • Blog Clinics - You can have your blog reviewed by Geoff Livingston, Debbie Weil & me (Liana Evans)
  • B2B Site Review - If you are a business selling to a business, here's the chance to have 2 of our B2B gurus take a look at your site
  • Small Business Review - Are you a small business with a website?  If you are and you want some guidance, bring your URL along to this site clinic and 2 of our Small Business experts will review it for you.
  • Entrepreneur Website Review - Have you just started out a business in the last year?  Wondering what you can do to get ahead and get noticed online?  Bring your website URL to this clinic and we'll have 2 of our experts take a look at your site to give you some guidance in this area.

What will this cost you?  Just $21!  That is if you register for SearchCamp Philly / PodCamp Philly before the 6th.  It'll be $25 at the door - but we suggest signing up now, as space is filling up fast and we're nearly full.  You definitely won't have to break into the Philadelphia Mint to have a review done to your site.

We also suggest you email siteclinic [at] searchcampphilly [dot] com to submit your site ahead of time to ensure we can review it!  This way your spot can be ensured - it's first come first served!

Fun Photo Fridays: Jennifer Yuan of 1000 Times No Hangs Out at PodCamp Philly

By Li Evans

Yes, it's Saturday morning, seems my last two Fridays escaped me rather quickly!

None the less, I do have a photo this week.  Timely in the fact of our announcement about SearchCamp Philly working with PodCamp Philly to bring an affordable online marketing conference to Philly!  This week's picture is of Jennifer Yuan hanging out at PodCamp Philly last year.  Jennifer is one of the extraordinary people who help to organize PodCamp Philly, she also has her own podcast called "1,000 Times No".

If Jennifer's name sounds familiar, it should for the folks who read SMG on a regular basis.  I interviewed Jennifer for the Women of Internet Marketing series last year.

SearchCamp Launches with PodCamp Philly in Philadelphia!

By Li Evans

Search Camp Philly LogoI'm really excited and pleased to announce that here in Philadelphia we are launching a brand new online marketing conference called SearchCamp

After attending PodCamp Philly last year, Whitney Hoffman and Bill Rowland really inspired me.  I thought, why can't we do this for Online Marketing?  They thought it was a great idea too, so this year for the first time, PodCamp Philly and SearchCamp Philly are combining efforts to bring a total focus about online media and marketing to local Delaware Valley businesses.

The event is going to be held September 6th & 7th, at Temple University, for the mere cost of just $21!  That fee secures your spot, and helps defray the costs of the event, best of all it also is going to help Philadelphia's Science Leadership Academy.  So if you are in the area, come on and spend the weekend learning about SEO, PPC, Podcasting, Vodcasting, Public Relations, Analytics, Social Media and everything online marketing!

We have some really great speakers lined up too, including Geoff Livingston, Debbie Weil, Kevin Ryan, Mike Grehan and a bunch of other great local marketers from Philly, Washington D.C. and the New York City area.  For just $21 how can you go wrong?

Special thanks goes out to the local Internet Marketers of the Delaware Valley, as well as PodCamp Philly - without all of you, we wouldn't be able to put this event on!

We're putting together some special promos, so keep your eye to the blogosphere, there's a contest attached to it.  For more information check out our press release about the online marketing conference, or the SearchCamp Philly site.
