Still Wondering If Your Company Should Be Blogging?
Still tapping your temple and trying to decide whether your company should be blogging? Well stopping tapping and pick up "The Corporate Blogging Book" by Debbie Weil. In fact, you can download the first chapter for free at her site, but the book is well worth the full price.
Debbie has packed this book with a lot of information and solid reasons why companies should be blogging. She also discusses and puts to rest the common fears that come with making the decision whether or not to blog, items like "Not Enough Time", and "Loosing Control" top the list. Debbie discusses the reasons in depth and shows that in reality most of the fears, are more about understanding blogging on a deeper level.
She also gets into letting employees blog. The end of the book is a wonderful compliment to what Debbie's written - she adds a resource section that includes a sample of corporate blogging policies for employees who blog.
She uses some great examples of companies who've embraced the blogosphere and have used it to embrace and engage the conversation. There are even interesting examples of small businesses utilizing the blogoshpere to promote their businesses, just to show it's not an exclusive blogging club for only the Fortune 500.
The book is wonderfully written, and Debbie's style of writing keeps you engaged and turning the pages to find out about others who are blogging, great ideas and to learn something more about blogging you might not have known. It's not boring and hard to get through, it's light, conversational and easy to read. Any company that has even pondered starting a blog for their company should pick up this book, read it and then get started in the blogosphere, pronto!
Debbie's also got a blog: BlogWrite for CEOs
