Just What is Linkbait? Rand Fishkin debates Eric Ward on the Definition

By Li Evans

Interesting debate on just what is link bait.  Is it manipulation like Eric Ward seems to state or is it  just appealing content like Rand is presenting?

Each presents an interesting argument, but I tend to side with Rand on this one.  No one is manipulating anyone with linkbait.  Rand presents some pretty persuasive arguments to "Link Moses", so this is a great read.

It's also great controversy... so it's great as link bait, isn't it? :)

edit:  added link to Rand's blog post since I mistakenly thought it happened already - apologies!  Great catch Chris!
